Audit & Accounts Manager - London

£65,000 - £70,000 + DOE

Hybrid Flexible Working
Our client is a leading top 10 accounting firm based in Central London.

As an Audit & Accounts Manager you will be working directly with partners and directors, providing client focused and commercially aware services in an efficient and professional manner.

You will mentor, train, and manage junior members of staff to enable them to develop and progress with the option of being involved in formal training if desired.


You will be assigned a partner mentor to help you work on your personal career development with progression opportunities available at all levels.

You will actively promote and market the firm and its services, to attract new clients and retain and develop relationships with existing clients, with the opportunity to specialise in specific sectors.

Responsible for a substantial portfolio of clients, covering a variety of business activities, sizes and structures. Your role will be audit focused while getting exposure to wider business advisory work as required. Your portfolio of clients will predominantly be Professional Services business.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Cultivate ongoing interactions with team members, clients, HMRC, and fellow professional advisors.
  • Orchestrating all facets of audit and accounts assignments:
  • Strategic job planning
  • Precise budgeting
  • Efficient time management
  • Effective delegation and supervision of team members
  • Proactive monitoring of project progress
  • Comprehensive file reviews and constructive team feedback
  • Collaboration with Tax Specialists for corporation tax computations
  • Collaborate in the finalisation of files for Partner review, including corporation tax calculations
  • Facilitate HMRC and Companies House submissions
  • Proactively advocate for the firm's interests across all stakeholders, from employees to clients and beyond.
  • Nurture team motivation and advancement through constructive feedback and encouragement.

Leadership and Development:


  • Provide guidance and mentorship to trainees during their training contracts, ensuring their growth and competence.
  • Foster a motivating and supportive environment for staff, particularly trainees.
  • Facilitate staff development, assigning meaningful work and debriefing after assignments.
  • Contribute to inhouse training initiatives and provide valuable upward feedback.

Driving Practice Excellence:


  • Engage in ad hoc client gatherings and seminars, establishing meaningful connections.
  • Identify opportunities for account development, collaborating with partners to drive progress.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of compelling new client presentations.

Qualifications and Competencies:


  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in portfolio management and personnel leadership.
  • Proven track record with a minimum of 40% audit work in current portfolio.
  • Profound grasp of corporate tax principles.
  • Indepth familiarity with UK auditing and accounting standards.
  • Strong commercial acumen, translating technical knowledge into practical solutions.
  • Extensive experience auditing Professional Services businesses.
  • Proficiency in both substantive and controlsbased audits, group reporting, and crossborder groups.
  • Experienced in accounting frameworks (UK GAAP, FRS 101, FRS 102, and IFRS).
