Description
To work as a key person and as part of the pre-school team under the direction of the pre-school leader to provide, safe, high quality education and care for young children.
To maintain a stimulating and enjoyable environment.Main Duties:
- To assist with the planning of the curriculum, to provide a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending the preschool in conjunction with other staff.
- Help prepare and fully set out the group before the children arrive and tidy up after the children leave.
- To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met.
- To advise the preschool manager of any concerns e.g. over children, child protection, parents/carers or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
- To be aware of any special needs a child may have and to familiarise oneself with relevant play and learning plans, working alongside parents to give full integration in the preschool.
- To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.
- Attend monthly staff meetings outside working hours.
- To attend inservice training courses and meetings as required.
- To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is acquired as part of the job.
- Undertake certain domestic jobs within the preschool, e
g:
preparation of snacks, cleansing of equipment etc.
- To keep uptodate with current good practice.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Preschool manager, in accordance with the preschool business plan/objectives.
NB:
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Essential criteria:
- Willingness to learn.
- A satisfactory enhanced DBS check which confirms suitability to work with children.
- Commitment to diversity and equal opportunities.

- Friendly, flexible approach.
- Health clearance for the role.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Good customer awareness.
Desirable criteria:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years, or equivalent
