About the Role.
PA Media is seeking an experienced political journalist/fact-checker for a project leading up to the UK general election.
Your role involves conducting research and crafting high-quality fact checks adhering to IFCN and EFCSN standards.
You'll assist in verifying and editing content, create engaging election-related content, aid in video-based fact checks for social media, analyse emerging misinformation themes, contribute insights to our election project, and enhance fact checks with visuals for digital audiences.
About you.
To be considered for the role you'll need:
- Excellent political insight
- Proficiency in web archiving and research
- Sound news judgment.
- The ability to report quickly, succinctly, and accurately, with a confident understanding of media law.
- Resilience under pressure, meticulous attention to detail paired with a healthy scepticism.
- Adaptability to changing news priorities, and availability for flexible shifts to accommodate political demands.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience in producing fact checks adhering to IFCN and EFCSN standards, previous involvement in national or regional newsrooms, and familiarity with factchecking techniques and Open-Source Intelligence methods.
