Job Description:


AECOM are seeking to employ a leader in the field of green infrastructure (GI) to further develop our GI service offer.

You will be part of the Natural Capital and Environmental Net Gain team within our Environment and Sustainability (E&S) business.

This new position is being driven by a growing need to support clients seeking to deliver multi-functional green space as part of major infrastructure and town and country planning developments and, as such, you will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues from our Ecology, Water Environment and other practice areas as appropriate to develop GI solutions.

We are looking for an experienced individual with a detailed understanding of GI and allied areas including biodiversity net gain, urban greening, environmental net gain, landscape character and connectivity, blue infrastructure, nature-based solutions and planning and environmental planning more generally.


As the lead for green infrastructure, your responsibilities will include: leading GI projects and the GI elements of interdisciplinary projects; developing our portfolio of GI projects; quality assuring GI-related deliverables; working with colleagues to grow the Natural Capital and Environmental Net Gain team through external recruitment and internal staff development; mobilising internal resources to fulfil GI opportunities; liaising with colleagues including senior managers to apprise them on progress in developing the GI service; and participating in internal business and product development forums.

As part of your role you will engage with clients, internal AECOM colleagues across a wide range of disciplines and external stakeholders including government departments and agencies and statutory consultees.

  • Work with planning, environment, design and contractor teams to lead and deliver GIrelated work, including project management.
  • Contribute to the development of a market leading GI offer.
  • Lead on work winning activities and client engagement to continuously improve our service offering for our clients through business development initiatives.
  • Engage and support multidisciplinary proposals.
  • Participate in developing innovative tools and solutions to help our clients deliver their ESG ambitions
  • Manage technical specialists in the preparation of GIrelated deliverables.
  • Manage and mentor more junior staff and take line management responsibility.

Qualifications:


  • Significant experience of GIrelated work.
  • Relevant professional chartership (or being able to demonstrate that you are working towards this).
  • Planning
- or EIA-related experience that could include developments under Hybrid Bill, NSIP/DCO, Transport and Works Act Order, Town and Country Planning and/or other relevant consenting regimes.

  • Excellent problem solving and time management abilities.
  • Proven project management abilities, including management of the commercial aspects of project delivery
  • A trackrecord of successful client engagement and business development.
  • Passion for growing the business, as well as being highly motivated and able to work both independently with limited direction and effectively as part of a growing team.
  • Excellent communication, team and people management skills.
