Responsibilities
- Carry out periodical Health & Safety checks as per the Companies policies and procedures
- Maintain the building(s), grounds, furniture and equipment so that the Home remains in clean, safe and efficient functional order.
- General DIY jobs such as putting up shelves.
- Minor maintenance and repair work to buildings, furniture, fixtures and fittings and equipment.
- Maintain outdoor areas including fences, garden furniture, grass, shrubs, plants etc.
- Complete and maintain written records as per the company's policies and procedures.
- Manage and prioritise own list of daily/weekly/monthly tasks and routines, understanding that duties may vary.
- Work to deadlines and within defined quality standards.
- Liasing with contractors and suppliers. Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary
- Maintain knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations and undertake CPD.
- Report any building, equipment, electrical, heating faults and any other potential hazards that you cannot resolve to the Manager
- Complete all weekly, monthly and periodic Health & Safety checks and document in the appropriate record books within the Home.
- Carry out weekly, monthly and periodic checks of the fire alarm system, and log results
- Check call points, fire exits, door retaining devices and emergency lights, as specified in the company's policies and procedures.
- Carry out weekly, monthly and periodic checks and record water temperatures, maintain legionella checks as specified in the company's policies and procedure.
- Carry out any patching up or touching up of decoration as and when required in order to maintain a good standard of the care home.
- Ensure all ventilation units and light fittings are kept clean. Replace any defective light bulbs / diffusers as required.
- Carry out any reasonable practical tasks as directed by the Home Manager that will contribute to the smooth running of the business
- Maintain any tools and equipment, reporting faults to the Home Manager.
- Keep any sheds, outbuildings and areas in which waste is stored in a clean and tidy condition in accordance to fire standards
- Be 'On Call' for advice and/or action in any emergencies which may arise out of hours to include weekends and bank holidays.
- Adhere to the Company's disposal of waste process.
- Assist with and supervise deliveries. Monitor delivered goods closely for accuracy, reporting any defects to the Home Manager.
- Assist with porterage and storage.
- Undertake driving duties if required by Home Manager or person in charge.

Requirements:
- Experience of a similar role
- Relevant qualifications
- Strong understanding of HASAWA and COSHH
- Experience in simple and more complex DIY style maintenance and repairs. Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
- Experience of gardening / grounds maintenance
- Flexible
- Ability to work on own initiative.
Salary:
£26,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
