Job Role - Pre-16 Tutor

Hours per week - Between hours per week


A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an engaging, inspirational and target driven person to join one of our Youth Contracts team as a Pre-16 Delivery Tutor at Prospect Training Services.


This role predominately involves delivering to and supporting 14-16-year-old students who are at-risk of becoming permanently excluded or not progressing into further education, employment or training (NEET) when they leave school through the delivery of our 'Step Up ' programme.


We are looking for someone who can engage and inspire young people to engage at one of our PTS centres in Gloucester, who might have a wide range of barriers preventing them from achieving their full potential.

You will deliver a variety of curriculum including Functional Skills maths and English, Personal Social Development (PSD), Employability Skills as well as our Level 1 Step Up Qualification in our established Gloucester training centre as well as in school.


As an experienced and qualified tutor you will work with young people to support them in achieving their goals and progress.

Applicants should, as a minimum, possess a teaching qualification [L3 PTLLS or above], hold a Level 2/GCSE qualification in English and Mathematics.

You will possess empathy for working with young people, strong written and verbal communication skills.

Your ability to work as part of a small team, deliver your curriculum and organise your contract administration will set you apart from the rest.


You will also be able to support learners via a small group or 1:1 basis for progressional planning and support into further education, employment or apprenticeships.

Previous track record of employability support would be advantageous.

Specification:_


- Teaching qualification (L3 PTLLS or above)

- Ability to teach maths and English to Level 2 Functional skills

- Experience teaching/working with NEET or risk of NEET (Not in education, employment or Training) young people (teaching & assessing qualifications are desired but not required)

- Experience working within a pupil referral unit (PRU) or alternative provision (AP) would be an advantage

- Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent qualification

- Experience of working with E3/L2 range of 14-24 year old students

- Experience of providing impartial advice and guidance and IAG qualified is desired

- Employer engagement and/or sales experience would be preferable; promoting to agencies, employers and providers

- Excellent customer service and communication skills

- Good coordination and organisational skills

- Innovative, fast thinking and versatile

- Self-motivated, able to work to performance targets and KPIs

- Excellent time management and organisation.

- Good local knowledge of the labour market

- Good ICT skills including Microsoft Office

- Demonstrable track record of student achievement

Additional Information

- Contract - Contract basis until end of June 2025

- Location: Gloucester - 1 centre delivery & in school.

- Hours: Up to 4 days per week to deliver in our centre & identified schools.

- Salary - Up to £26,000 per annum pro rata.
