Incredible Kids Nursery are seeking a L3 qualified individual, to join their team as a Level 5 Apprentice, completing the Early Years Lead Practitioner qualification.

Job Purpose:

To provide a safe, happy, secure environment which is conducive to providing a high quality of care and education for children.

To fulfil legal and statutory requirements. To supervise staff on a day-to-day basis. To contribute to and implement nursery policies.

Job Context Reporting to the Deputy Manager / Nursery Manager
Location The jobholder is required to be located at Incredible Kids Limited - Derby/Ashby


Qualifications/ Requirements:


  • GCSE / O'Level Mathematics and English required (Grade C or above).
  • Level 3 Childcare (or higher) Qualification is essential.
  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
  • In-Depth knowledge of the current EYFS regulations
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Full awareness of the Children's Act 198
  • Excellent knowledge of OFSTED regulations and guidelines
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • DBS Checked

Apprenticeship Details:
Level 5 Lead practitioner qualification, with an expected duration of 26 months to complete. All training provided by work place mentor and LMP Education allocated tutor.


Salary:
£23,004.80


Shifts:
Mon-Fri times TBC. (Full time position).


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure that you monitor all entry and exit doors, ensuring that all parents/visitors/carers are authorised to enter, if you are unsure request to see ID & alert another member of staff or your manager. Always ensure that you have contacted parent/carer should an unknown individual attempt to collect a child without prior authorisation.
  • Ensure ratios are maintained at all times. Always role model effective practice.
  • To be responsible for the organisation in the absence of the manager and deputy manager in conjunction with other Room Leaders.
  • To promote wellbeing and healthy eating practices for all children.
  • To be responsible for drawing up, monitoring and supervising weekly planning in the Room, and the overall nursery curriculum, inline with the latest EYFS regulations. To ensure the daily programme of activities & events appropriately reflective of the weekly plans & outcomes desired.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the environment is safe, carrying out risk assessments & temperature control, checking that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and fire drills are regularly practiced.
  • To be responsible for providing high quality of teaching & learning to the children, ensuring that staff are properly deployed and offer an appropriate level of stimulation and support to the children in an enabling & challenging environment.
  • To be responsible for implementing systems of observations and record keeping so that children's attainment and progress is effectively and regularly assessed.
  • To Monitor the overall effectiveness of all assessment procedures and ensure that each child's needs are recognised and met.
  • To supervise and support staff on a daily basis, sharing ideas and identify inservice training needs. Carry out observations of individual staff practice and whole room practice and provide constructive feedback to Team or individuals.
  • To assist in the practical training of new staff and provide support, information and guidance where appropriate.
  • To be responsible for providing students/volunteers with opportunities to complete their work and to develop their skills and knowledge. To be responsible for communicating with course tutors and for submission of written reports for all students who attend the nursery.
  • To act as a key person to a small group of children, keeping records and recording observations, liaising closely with
parents/carers. Ensure that each child is learning and developing by drawing up and monitoring planning.

  • To keep records of children's achievements and share this information with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parental involvement. Ensuring all required documentation is kept up to date.
  • To greet & feedback to all children, their families, carers, and to offer reassurance to new families and support them in settling in. Always maintaining a friendly yet professional relationship/approach with families/carers.
  • To advise the Nursery Manager/Deputy Manager of any concerns about children, parents, carers, other Staff, nursery environment, or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
  • To maintain complete confidentiality of any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is learned, as part of the job, inside and outside of the nursery.
  • To assist in promoting/developing multicultural awareness and antiracist/sexist practice within the Nursery.
