Skilled Service Staff - Technical Riding Inspector - Marylebone/Aylesbury
Chiltern Railways are responsible for operating a rail service from London Marylebone through to Birmingham, with many stops in-between around the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire areas.
The purpose of this role will be to service, repair and maintain the company's fleet (including sandite and water jetting trains) to an acceptable standard of fitness for public service and to ensure that all health and safety and environmental legislation is strictly adhered to.
To maintain, fault diagnose, repair and service the fleet of Diesel Multiple Unit vehicles and Local Hauled Coaches and other traction and rolling stock in accordance with good engineering practice, to an acceptable standard, using the individual's skill and knowledge and experience, in accordance with environmental, technical and operational policies and procedures.
Acknowledge and ensure compliance with the Fleet Standards Information, as issued in the form of Depot Maintenance Schedules, Vehicle Maintenance and Technical Instructions, Job Cards and other instructions produced by the relevant departments.
To fully co-operate with measures and systems designed to increase productivity and the efficiency of the maintenance activity, as directed by the Fleet Manager or his/her deputy.
To fully co-operate and comply and encourage good housekeeping and health and safety activities within the depot.
Act in a disciplined manner and to follow supervisory and management instructions and requests promptly.
Recognised Mechanical/Electrical Engineering apprenticeship.
Awareness of health and safety procedures.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Good understanding of schematic diagrams/layouts.
Can gather and process relevant information systematically.
Sound mechanical/electrical engineering experience and knowledge.
