Description

Are you an experienced nuclear professional looking for a new challenge? Like us, are compliance and safety your overriding priorities in the workplace? If you're looking for an exciting new opportunity working at Sizewell B Power Station, Suffolk, in a crucial period of change, this position may be for you

The Opportunity

Working on site at our Sizewell B Power Station, within our Independent Nuclear Assurance (INA) department, you'll form part of a strong team that delivers independent assurance of compliance and facilitates improvements in nuclear, environment and industrial safety.

Maybe you're a Navy Nuclear Officer looking for a position in the nuclear industry, or an experienced engineer wanting to step into the world of assurance.

With experience in these types of professions, we'd love to hear from you

Pay, benefits and culture

We can offer a competitive salary from £71,101 - £98,004 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement.

You'll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

We'll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you'll be doing

As the internal regulator for our sites, we strive to be influencers in the business, demonstrating role model behaviours related to safety and compliance and representing a passion for nuclear safety.

This is an incredibly diverse and demanding role covering all aspects of the business at Sizewell B, including the provision of advice to senior station management on how culture, behaviour and everyday working practices affect operational safety performance.

You'll be carrying out day-to-day assessments of nuclear operations and plant state, on-site inspections, reviews, and data analysis to identify shortfalls and adverse nuclear assurance trends, as well as the instigation of necessary improvements.

This is with the aim of ensuring the station remains compliant with its legal obligations and continues to improve its safety performance.

You may have the opportunity to take on the role of Independent Nuclear Safety Reviewer (INSR) which will involve a daily independent assessment of the status of nuclear safety, using independent sources to challenge the station's nuclear safety performance, ensuring defence in depth is optimised.

Who you are
We're looking for you to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Experience of nuclear operations would be desirable (possibly being a current or previous Duly Authorised Person or equivalent experience or training e.g. military)
  • Preferably 5+ years track record of implementing, advising or regulating SSHE arrangements within the nuclear, or other engineering orientated and highly regulated, industry (including defence)
  • An ability to think 'outside of the box' to identify trends, behaviours and insights that could be effective at helping improve SSHE performance
  • Good analytical skills to support critical reviews of performance
  • Clear, concise communication skills to ensure effective delivery of verbal or written feedback
  • Ability to build relationships and team working at all levels in order to establish networks and optimise their use for influencing
  • The character to deliver difficult messages under potentially challenging situations
  • A proven track record of liaising with external SSHE regulators would be an advantage.

Join us and together we can help Britain achieve Net Zero
