Description

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is seeking a patient representative to join the Accreditation Programme for Psychological Therapies Services (APPTS) as a Worker.

The successful applicant will have recent lived experience of accessing specialist psychological therapy services.

As part of this role, you will be closely involved with the network and particularly with the project team, to engage the wider membership and partner organisations in advocating for the APPTS patient group.

APPTS is a quality improvement and accreditation network that works with specialist psychological therapy services all around the UK and Ireland.

The views, ideas, skills and experience of people who have used these services are vital for our work.
APPTS takes psychological therapy teams through a supportive process of self
- and peer review to assess how the service is performing against an agreed set of quality standards.
The self-review involves completion of a team checklist and gathering of feedback from service users, therapists and team managers.

The peer review visit takes place over a whole day and involves verifying the self-review data, considering the service in its unique context and exchanging information about best practice.

All peer review visits are currently taking place online.

Peer review teams comprise psychological therapy professionals, a member of the APPTS project team and a patient and/or carer representative.

Find out more about the work of the APPTS network.

Patient and carer representatives are expected to contribute by attending and contributing to the peer reviews.

Opportunities may also arise for involvement with the Advisory Group, Accreditation Committee, standards development, the APPTS annual conference and any other events taking place throughout the year.

The Patient Representative must have access to their own electrical equipment to attend meetings and Wi-Fi connection.
