Job Title:
CentralStores & Logistics Supervisor

Summary


Manage and lead a centralised stores team covering activities such as material control, inventory control, shipping/receiving, stores functions, ensuring that the operational team deliver projects safely and to time, cost, quality and sustainability targets, and meeting customer needs and expectations.

As a result, knowledge and experience of continuous improvement and lean techniques are essential to the success of the Central Stores & Logstics Supervisor position.


Key duties and responsibilities

  • Overall management of the central stores function
  • Overall responsibility for planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt, inspection, storage, picking and delivery of Goods and Materials within the centralised stores department
  • Management of the Goods Inward, Stores and Internal Materials delivery processes ensuring the operations team is fully supported
  • Ensure that space, mechanical handling and equipment are used efficiently ensuring health, safety and environmental procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Develop and implement automated systems, including MRP systems to minimise waste
  • Ensure stock accuracy/stock checks are completed
  • Effectively manage Inventory & WIP levels
  • Continuously manage and review current labour utilisation, streamlining and standardising processes to ensure efficient labour utilisation
  • Effective and efficient day to day management of all central stores employees as required including training, performance management and discipline/grievance matters.
  • Identify and develop relevant KPI measures as appropriate and motivate, organise and encourage the central stores team to ensure KPIs are met/exceeded
  • Effectively respond to and deal with internal customer communications and requests as and when required
  • Produce reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis as and when required to support business needs
  • Oversee the planned maintenance of Stores facilities, vehicles and equipment
  • Continuously review, develop and improve processes within the team by leading and actively engaging in Kaizen events both in stores and other departments
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by management

Experience

  • Proven experience gained in a supervisory/managerial position in a busy Stores, Warehouse or similar facility
  • Working knowledge of Avante and MRP systems or similar
  • Previous exposure to and/or management of continuous improvement and lean initiatives is essential
  • Previous experience of managing change is critical to the success of this role

Key Skills

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with a bias for action
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and MRP systems
  • A strong desire to further develop a strong, highly focused and motivated team to successfully service the needs of the business
  • Be an advocate of positive change and be confident in tackling challenging business issues
  • Understand and demonstrate the importance of health, safety and environment within the business
