Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, organised and compassionate mental health professional with an interest in patient safety and quality to join our team for a 3 months secondment as the Governance Lead for Lambeth.

You will need to be organised and able to prioritise your own workload, managing and leading multiple projects simultaneously. You will also need to be flexible and responsive to changing needs of the services we serve.

We are looking for some-one with good communication skills who will be able to engage with all staff working across the Trust on the patient safety agenda.


The Lambeth Governance team consists of three members of staff, the Governance Lead, Governance Officer and Governance administrator who sit within the larger Quality and Nursing team in Lambeth.

We work closely with the Head of Nursing, Matrons and Senior Leadership Team to provide assurance around patient safety issues, managing and learning from serious incidents and complaints, providing data to support services, developing systems to improve standardisation across services and embedding learning within the Directorate.

Working alongside the Head of Nursing, the experienced Governance Team and the wider Lambeth Senior Leadership Team the Governance Lead will oversee quality reports of investigations, complaints as well as provide teaching and advice on quality and risk management topics across the Lambeth Directorate.

This includes adult inpatient and community services.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Quality

  • To support the development and delivery of comprehensive quality reports for
the Lambeth Directorate, which enable an aggregated analysis of trends and
themes in patient experience, patient safety, patient outcomes, staff safety
and other safety issues and lead the process of developing mitigating actions.

  • Alongside the Head of Nursing to provide leadership for the Directorate in
developing programmes of work to ensure that the Trust meets the relevant
criteria as described in the standards set by the Care Quality Commission and
any other national, service-specific or local performance frameworks.

  • Identify problems or areas of concern relating to clinical and nonclinical
practice and liaise with the lead professionals to agree and decide required
remedial action and the setting and maintaining of standards

  • To provide advice and teaching on quality and risk management topics across
the Lambeth Directorate.

  • To remain updated in all aspects of quality and risk management and own
area of professional practice to maintain registration.
2) Governance

  • To audit the outcomes of complaint and incident investigations with clinical
staff and ensure that the outcome and risk rating is completed in Datix.

  • To lead on the development of the Lambeth Directorate clinical audit
programme and it's embedding in clinical practice.

  • To support clinical teams in the monitoring and thematic reviewing of adult
and children's safeguarding activity across the Directorates in collaboration
with the Lambeth safeguarding lead.

  • Support the production of business cases / bids and where appropriate act as
a project manager/project executive for service developments / capital
schemes.

  • To develop and support the implementation of the Lambeth clinical
governance plans and work programmes.

  • To provide line management to the Clinical Governance Project Officer.
3) Risk

  • To be the expert on
