This is an exciting time for elective theatres at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, as we have expanded our 7 elective theatre unit at Chorley Hospital to 13 elective theatre's in November 2021.
The theatre unit currently has four Orthopaedic theatres, encompassing a cross section of day case & in-patient Orthopaedic specialties. Recently we have also undertaken the provision of simple elective neurosurgical spinal cases.As a Team Leader you would be directly involved in leading the teams in the following Orthopaedic procedures:
Upper Limb surgery
Hip surgery
Knee surgery
Spinal Surgery, (both orthopaedic & neurosurgical)
Elective Green Trauma
We seek a committed and flexible individual who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and has outstanding clinical skills. You must be an effective communicator and possess great organisational skills.
As an experienced Orthopaedic theatre practitioner you will demonstrate excellent knowledge and skills and be a role model for all staff in the department.
As a team leader you will be proactive and visible in order to build and form effective relationships with your team and with the wider MDT.

Assist and support the Clinical Manager in the safe and effective management of the service including management of staff, facilities and associated systems and processes.
Acts as a role model presenting a positive image of self, the team and the organisation
Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, making optimal use of operating sessions. Identify potential bottlenecks and facilitate smooth patient flow through the department.
Ensure a high standard of service delivery is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients' needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence based guidelines.
Demonstrates and maintains competence in anaesthetic practice (ODP's)
