My client is an independent, multi-disciplined engineering group who support the industrial, infrastructure, commercial and service sectors with a unique range of contracting and rotating machine services as well as developing and providing support productsoffered through the group of companies.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager they have a vacancy for an experienced Armature Winder to join the team.

The activities undertaken by our Armature Winding & Electrical Fitting departments are both diverse and challenging as they cover all aspects ofthe repair & refurbishment of machines which are often highly complex.


Responsibilities:


Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Inspection of electro-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunction, test condition of windings, dismantle and strip damaged or unserviceable electro-mechanical equipment, prepare allreusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions
  • Illustrating and documenting all relevant data specific to unit's electromagnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage or intended serviceability
Observing proper insulating techniques and requirements during rewinding

  • Operating specialised repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, coreloss tester, cutoff saws, burnout ovens, back ovens, grinders, cranes forklifts trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPIsystems and various handheld power and nonpower tools
  • Time served, semiskilled or combination of education and experience is desired
  • Mechanical aptitude required
  • Prior experience working as a Winder is essential
  • Full driving licence would be an advantage
