Protocol Education are currently working with a number of schools in the Newcastle upon Tyne (UK) area who are struggling with finding additional support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and behavioural issues.
We are now seeking passionate and driven Teaching Assistants to work in a Secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne (UK).
Your role will consist of providing 1:1 and group support to students with SEND in both the classroom and the Learning Support Unit.
Youmust be available to work Monday
- Friday (Fulltime) and
will need an Enhanced DBS (£38)/ be willing to obtain one to get cleared for work.
This is a great opportunity for anyone considering a career in Teaching or Educational Psychology, for example, to gain experience whilst being paid in a rewarding setting.
The role:
- Supporting children with SEND on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Ensuring that the pupils can integrate as fully as possible in the activities generally undertaken by the other children in the class and make progress.
- To develop knowledge of the particular needs of the children and seek advice from the SENCo, class teacher and outside agencies as required.
- Provide positive reinforcements, praise and rewards to pupils.
- Motivate pupils to learn and be sociable.
- To maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the pupils' needs but have regard to the safeguarding procedures of the school.
You will:
- Hold a university degree
- Have an Enhanced DBS/ be willing to obtain one
- Have excellent communication and team work skills
- Be able to work Monday-Friday (term time)
- Have a supporting and encouraging manner with young children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
