Legal Secretary - Employment & Litigation

Edinburgh - Hybrid

£25,000 - £28,000 - Experience Dependant


A fantastic, top 50 established Edinburgh firm, known to us as a client for many years are keen to add an experienced Legal Secretary to their already impressive team Employment & Litigation Team in Edinburgh.


Based in well-equipped Edinburgh offices in an impressive setting, close to commuter links, the Employment & Litigation Legal Secretary will benefit from working with a cohesive team of Secretaries, Administrators and Coordinators to deliver a high quality of a full range of Legal Secretarial Duties.


Duties and responsibilities of a Legal Secretary in Employment & Litigation:

  • Prioritising workflow from the team inbox
  • Internal and external meeting arrangements
  • Organising meetings, ensuring the correct facilities are booked and liaising with internal / external attendees
  • Responding and dealing with external or internal telephone calls and queries in a professional manner
  • Organising travel arrangements
  • Document formatting / amendments
  • Organisation of file management, including closing of files and archiving
  • Managing and understanding the endtoend billing process
  • Creating standard bills / disbursements / requesting credit notes
  • Completing financial reports where required
  • Managing group and fee earner contacts to ensure they are up to date
  • Providing administrative support to fee earners
  • Assisting on adhoc administration

Skills Required in Employment & Litigation:

  • Extensive relevant experience as a Legal Secretary
  • Excellent diary management
  • IT literate with high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), Lync
  • Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams
  • Basic understanding of billing
  • Document management and filing efficiently
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Applies knowledge and judgement to solve problems and make decisions
