Background

  • This is an exciting opportunity to join the User Experience Team within the Library and Learning Resources Department as a Library and Information Adviser in Augustine House (Canterbury Campus).
  • The award winning building Augustine House Library and Learning Resource Centre, provides a wide range of facilities, mixing physical resources with learning spaces to support a variety of study needs.
  • The User Experience Team is responsible for frontline and circulation service delivery, including service desks, managing the study environment, leading the development of promotional and marketing activities, supporting and leading student engagement initiatives and student orientation programmes.

The Role

We are looking to fill a 20 hour part time post. Y

_ou will be expected to work a regular evening shift on a rota basis and provide cover for evening and weekend shifts as required._


Reporting to the User Experience Team Coordinator, you will play a key role in providing high quality, user-oriented services and support for students, staff and members of the public.

On a daily basis, you will give advice, in person and remotely, in the use of all facilities and services, and assist in the maintenance of a good learning environment by monitoring student behaviour.

You will also carry out and lead administrative tasks and contribute to the stock maintenance of the library collection. This includes shelving, processing stock disposal and contribute to stock check and stock move projects.

In this post, you will contribute to library orientation activities, assist with Library communications, help develop marketing and awareness campaigns and contribute to the maintenance and content creation for the library website.


Requirements:


  • You will have excellent customer services skills, good IT skills and an enthusiasm for library services. You will also have experience of working in a library or information environment, or customerfocused environment, providing a direct customer support service. You will need to have confident interpersonal, communication (oral and written) skills coupled with welldeveloped problemsolving skills. You will be an effective team player and be adaptable to meet service demands.
The selection process will include a competency-based interview panel, a shelving test, an interaction-based scenario and an inbox exercise.
