The Birmingham office surveyors are generally involved with material inspections, welding procedure and performance qualifications, pressure vessel fabrications, container inspections and some mechanical equipment work.

Role Purpose

:


The role is for an ASME Authorised Inspector (AI) who will carry out ASME and standard Surveyor work, or, alternatively, for a Surveyor with the intention of training as an ASME Authorised Inspector. The aim of this role is to assess the design, manufacture, examination and testing and in-service aspects of engineering assets, against agreed Codes, Standards, specifications and procedures, and to perform inspections, using knowledge and experience appropriate for routine situations.

Your duties will include

:

-
Perform assessments and provide advice for service delivery within agreed parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements including ASME, PED, UKCA, welding and materials

:

-
Producing inspection certificates, visit reports and other appropriate deliverables

:

-
Discuss/present the deliverable with the external client and be able to assess alternative solutions where appropriate.

:

-
Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.

:

-
Assess/ recommend the time/value of the work to be undertaken for an external client within an agreed fee/cost structure and issue quotations up to an agreed limit and Lloyd's Register's standard terms and conditions

:

Pursue Continuing Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

:

Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.

:

-
Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating to internal/external client feedback as appropriate.

:

-
Assess the risks and work in a safe manner at all times, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health.

:

-
Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager.

To be considered you must

:

-
Either be an ASME Authorised Inspector with a valid card from the National Board; with the AI Commission and IS Commission or R Endorsement or be willing to undergo this training

:

-
Possess a relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognised university, HNC/HND with appropriate experience, or equivalent welding and/or NDE qualifications with appropriate experience

:

Possess thorough knowledge of materials, welding and pressure vessel construction codes, e.g. PD 5500 and ASME Section VIII (and NBIC)

Possess knowledge and understanding of the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU and UKCA

Possess good working knowledge of IT
