Main Responsibilities
To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Day Nursery.

To give support to other personnel within the Day Nursery.

To implement the daily routine and be responsible for the children, their own and their assistants safety - that nothing which can cause harm is brought into the room, nothing which can cause harm is embarked upon.

Accidents are kept to a minimum with careful planning.

Undertake school drop-offs and collections at local schools

Provide/be in charge of/organise afterschool trips over school holidays alongside managerial team.

Main Duties

Operate/assist a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending the Nursery in conjunction with other staff.

Ensure children's needs are planned for.

Ensure planning, paperwork etc is kept up to date

Ensure children are signed in immediately when they come in to nursery or as soon after, and again when they leave they are signed out.

Assist in the preparation of children's records and reviews for parents in conjunction with other staff.

Work alongside parents of special needs children to give full integration in the Nursery.

Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.

Liaise with and support parents and other family members.

Undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.

Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the project is fulfilled.

Any other duties deemed necessary by the management.

Be prepared to attend planning/staff meeting/training after working hours.

Making sure staff in the room are familiar with and know the policies and procedures of the nursery especially new staff - that they are made aware of where everything is kept and how toys and resources are to be treated and stored.

During a nursery viewing, the room leader will show parents round their room and explain the procedure to them;
