This post holder will provide a high quality administrative service to the Sussex Mindfulness Centre team and work closely with the Co-Lead and the Administration Manager.

The postholder is likely to administer mindfulness and compassion-based groups delivered to external organisations and to work on the SMC Mindful Self Compassion Teacher Training pathway.

They may also be involved in the delivery of online or face to face events such as our annual conference and master classes.

Events management experience would be an advantage.


They will be an experienced administrator with a sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and experience of maintaining spreadsheets, databases and other office systems.

They will have excellent organisational and communication skills and be able to plan their own workload.

They will be able to work within the unique culture and values of the NHS and fit into the SMC team of mindfulness researchers, trainers, teachers, administrators, interns and assistants who work in a friendly, mutually respectful and collaborative way.

This post is currently predominantly home working with occasional face to face meetings and events in Brighton. Flexible working hours are encouraged.

There is likely to be the option in the future to extend the hours and to make the currently fixed term post substantive.


The Sussex Mindfulness Centre (SMC) Administrator will provide an effective and efficient administrative service to SMC focusing on particular training programmes, the coordination of SMC events and work streams as required.


The post holder will support the Administration Manager and other members of the team with SMC administrative practices and procedures, and must be able to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

To consistently deliver a client focused service, which promotes good customer service and effective working relationships.

To provide a professional administrative support service, using appropriate IT software packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook, Ticket Tailor, Oracle, Jotform and E-shot, working to strict timescales and to a high standard of accuracy, following the correct Trust presentation standards.


To create and maintain complex spreadsheets tracking course bookings, ensuring that they are kept up to date and accessible to all members of team.


Under the guidance of the Administration Manager to assist with organising training and events for SMC staff including liaising with training facilitators and attendees.

To be responsible for the booking of venues, equipment and hospitality requests, using the Trust's forms.

To organize and be responsible for the minuting of SMC's monthly team meeting.

To develop effective working relationships with key people to help support and develop the business of Sussex Mindfulness Centre, and to play an active part in developing an inclusive and supportive culture


To be proactive in organising and prioritising workload, managing own time effectively, highlighting problems as they arise and proposing possible solution within available resources.
