Barley Chalu is seeking someone to join our Quality Control Laboratory. Barley Chalu is known within the Aluminium pretreatment and powder coating industry for its high standard of quality.

Being a member of our Quality Control Lab team would mean you are at the heart of ensuring quality throughout the company is being maintained.

The role consists of multiple different responsibilities which are listed below. Our products have a wide reach and we pride ourselves on the care we put into them.

It is not required to have in-depth Chemistry knowledge, as a lot of the role is specific to the industry and can be taught on-site.

Tasks:

Conduct routine analytical testing (titrations) to ensure all chemical pretreatments are within specification before allowing the material to be processed.
Mechanical testing of finished painted material before allowing it to leave the site.
Routine testing of samples and leasing with chemical suppliers for additional testing.
Ensuring Quality operating procedures and maintenance are being conducted accurately within other departments of the company.
Routine testing of Ovens and our wastewater treatment plant.
Ensuring all departments are ready for unanounced audits.
Assist Laboratory Manager when necessary.
Provide cover for other technicians during holiday, absences.
Carry out maintainance on lab equipment, keeping to a calibration schedule.
Carry out raw material testing.

Qualifications and training required:
An interest in chemistry would be advantageous. Relevant practical Laboratory/Quality experience could also be beneficial and welcomed.

Full training will be given.

The ability to work and act independently.
Good attention to detail.
The ability to working under pressure/time limits.
Able to work as part of a team.
Able to communicate clearly and build good working relationships with other departments and members of staff.
Enjoys problem solving and finding a resolutions to unforeseen issues.

Hours:

40 hours per week plus overtime.
6.00 A.M P.M.
Monday to Friday + Rota'd Saturdays.
Overtime is paid at time and a half.
Paid weekly.

Starting salary at £20,800. This will be reviewed periodicly (3 monthly). Review is based upon development within and attitude towards the role.

Salary:
£20,800.00-£25,000.00 per year
