Suffolk Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA)

Hours: 37 per week


Location:
Suffolk
Base:Bury St Edmunds


Salary:
£27,151 rising to £29,151 following successful completion of 6 month probation


Fixed Term Contract until 30th September with the possibility to extend

Job Purpose:


  • To manage referrals and caseloads for the Suffolk IDVA Service, to identify and provide immediate, safety planning to those identified as high risk of further significant harm, who are living with/ or fleeing domestic abuse.
  • To work with service users to reduce risk of further harm and to empower them to make positive choices.
  • To work across Suffolk within a multiagency framework including MARAC, Police and Community Partnership Agencies and attend forums and meeting as required.
  • To ensure the risks and needs of domestic abuse victims are identified, assessed by using an evidencebased risk identification checklist and support victims to help them access services to keep themselves and their children safe.

Key Strategic Responsibilities:


  • To work in a multiagency environment, safeguarding adults and children.
  • Promote Equality, Diversity, Fairness, and Inclusion at all times.
  • Promote a 'Team NIDAS' culture across the service delivery.
  • Ensure that our service users voices are central to all aspects of service delivery and is evidenced through safety and support planning, risk assessment and reviews.
  • Supervise a team of community and family IDVAs and work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the NIDAS Partnership to deliver our visions, values and objectives.
  • Be innovative in identifying methods to successfully engage with people across a wide range of backgrounds and with diverse needs.
  • Look for opportunities to improve and develop services that we offer.
  • To promote collaboration and multiagency working for service users and maintain up to date knowledge of local services to enable recovery.
  • Support our service users to link into statutory, health and social care services to maximise their wellbeing and recovery.
  • To implement NIDAS's strategy on consultation and service user involvement to ensure that all service users are able to participate and contribute to the development of the NIDAS service.

Essential Requirements:


  • A relevant accredited domestic abuse qualification
  • Experience of working with people who have experienced domestic abuse
  • Experience of working in a multiagency team and developing partnerships
  • Proactive/flexible approach to working hours.
  • Good communication and presentation skills

Driving Licence, business insurance and the ability to travel across Suffolk & Norfolk is essential.
