About this role


The Membership Team at the British Museum is seeking a new Membership Services Coordinator (Mailings), to oversee and facilitate the prompt dispatch of Membership mailings and correspondence, improve turnaround times and ensure Members have everything they need to fully enjoy their benefits.


With over 70,000 Members of the Museum, this role underpins our efforts to offer a Membership experience of enduring value and ensure that Members' generous support is reciprocated with a first class service at all times.

The role is essential to the operational efficiency of a dynamic and fast paced team; facilitating the quickest possible dispatch across a whole range of correspondence essential to Member satisfaction.


Key areas

  • Take handson responsibility for the mailing of new, renewed and replacement Membership cards, administering the process from start to finish to dispatch two mailings of Membership cards each week, and proactively contacting Members to update them on the status of their mailing.
  • Facilitate a wide range of ad hoc and bespoke mailings, oversee and undertake processing of returned mail, design and implement the Christmas mailing campaign, dispatch Gift Aid correspondence and administer the Membership appeal.
  • Create and dispatch digital Membership cards, liaising with our external supplier under the guidance of Membership Services Manager (Systems) to synchronise the receipt of digital and physical cards and monitor consent optin's.
  • Oversee printing and dispatch from the onsite card printer, working with colleagues across the team to record requests, before then proceeding to print cards and arranging for their receipt.

About you

  • Experience of dealing with repetitive, high volume data entry.
  • Ability to design and implement new processes
  • Incredibly strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all tasks
  • Expertise in handling postal mailings and correspondence.
  • Experience of using CRM software
  • Proven organisation and communication skills
