As an Apprentice Veterinary Care Assistant (AVCA) you will provide a high standard of customer service and clinical care whilst promoting pet wellbeing and supporting the clinical team to deliver preventive services and treat sick and injured pets of eligible clients.
The role is to support the Pet hospital team with taking care of the wellbeing of pets by maintaining a clean and hygienic environment at all times, assisting with animal handling, working at reception and providing support to the Veterinary nurses and Veterinary Surgeons.
Working as part of a large, experienced team means that help and support will always be available when you ask for advice or assistance.
The Apprentice Veterinary Care Assistant role combines workplace experience with a formal qualification.
The Level 2 intermediate apprenticeship in Veterinary Care Assistants programme takes 12 to 18 months to complete, 20% of your time will be allocate for off the job training to support your learning and completion of the qualification.
The apprenticeship consists of the following:
- The Level 2 diploma in Veterinary Care Assistant;
- Personal learning and thinking skills;
- Employee rights and responsibilities.
This role does not require you to possess any previous qualifications, however there will be a basic skills assessment and other various experience or qualifications that would provide a good foundation for this role.
