Women's Aid Federation England (WAFE) Collection Officer:

Women's Aid Federation England (WAFE) is the national co-ordinating body for all local and domestic violence services, including refuges in England.

It provides information, training and resources to these services as well as to other agencies. It monitors the experiences of and the provision for women and children suffering abuse. It has lobbied, advocated and campaigned throughout England since 1974.


Women's Aid Federation England (WAFE), the Feminist Archive North (FAN) and the University of Leeds Special Collections have worked in collaboration to secure the deposit of the WAFE Archive at the University of Leeds and the role of Collections Officer is instrumental to ensuring the successful capture, digitisation, repackaging and promotion of the collection in support of the Project Archivist.

You will work closely with several members of staff in

Special Collections:

working with the Project Archivist to devise and stage various volunteer activities, including repackaging and indexing; with the Digital Archivist to assess the content of floppy disks and other digital carriers, securing disk images, analysing and extracting content for the Project Archivist to catalogue; and with Digitisation Studio staff on the digitisation of key sets of papers in the collection.

You will be a key contact for academic researchers throughout the project, providing content for events and activities as project milestones are reached.
