We are recruit a
Temporary Works Coordinator to join our Thames Tideway Framework, based at the King Edward Memorial Park Site (KEMPF) in Tower Hamlets.


About the project

Thames Tideway Tunnel - Main Works East is a £604m project secured by the Costain-Vinci-Bachy joint venture ("CVB") to provide a new sewage storage and transfer tunnel from Chambers Wharf to Abbey Mills.

It includes the main tunnel, a connection tunnel to Greenwich Pumping Station, various shaft constructions, a connection to the newly constructed Lee Tunnel project, and minor works at the Beckton Sewage Treatment Plant, all as part of an overall project to reduce sewer discharge overflows into the river Thames.


About the Role

This role would suit a Senior Engineer with experience in Architecture and Landscaping including installation of soft & hard landscaping.

Liaising with the relevant design house regarding the design and any potential issues.

In addition, the role would include managing subcontractors who would deliver the Architecture and Landscaping elements including all aspects of health, safety, environmental and quality control.

The role is a fixed term contract for 12 months.

The Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) will join the KEMPF team as well as the Temporary Work Team and support the delivery of the following packages;
Interception chamber
Connection Culvert
All shaft main civil works
Air Treatment Chamber
Removal of Temporary works (foundation, muck bins) of the Slurry Treatment Plant
Dismantling of a steel acoustic shed


The TWC is responsible for ensuring that the contractor's procedures for the control of temporary works are implemented on site.

The TWC is responsible for ensuring that a suitable temporary works design is prepared, checked and implemented on site in accordance with the relevant drawings and specification.


Key Responsibilities
Ensure that the project's procedures for the control of temporary works are implemented on site
Coordinate TW design with TW Designers and Checkers
Ensure that the various responsibilities have been allocated and accepted by the relevant parties (Designated Individual, TWS and Construction team etc.)
Manage and maintain Temporary Works Register is up to date and that a design brief is prepared by the site team
Lead on the development of Temporary Works standards solutions
Review Temporary Design Brief and organize TW Design Kick-off with Designer when required.
Maintain all records relating to the final design of the Temporary Works including drawings, calculations and other relevant documents
Build trust and good relationship with Construction site team and TWS


About You
Experience of the relevant types of temporary works, especially formwork, Platform checks, shoring and ideally, steelwork
Hold a Degree / HND in civil/ structural engineering. A lower educational level (HNC or HND), is acceptable where a very significant level of experience in a senior technical engineering role can be demonstrated
Have good communication skills in English, both written and verbal and the ability to report at both Project and Board level
Be familiar with working with 3rd parties such Network Rail / DLR (desirable)
