he Operations Manager in Manchester takes responsibility for the day-to-day management of a busy workspace, household goods and logistics operations teams.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

General Tasks

  • Safeguarding the highest levels of Customer Service Satisfaction.
  • Compliance with all legal and company legislation and Quality Management systems
  • Ensuring the excellent quality of service in Benelux, UK and Ireland
  • Reviewing and improving productivity levels.
  • Benchmarking: looking at new and innovative ways of developing our business practises.
  • Operational P&L accountability.
  • Commercially support the sales and client services teams
  • Margin growth through close control of costs
  • Responsible for Supplychain cost, productivity and quality
  • Accountability for the development and wellbeing of staff whilst in the workplace.

Workflow and Process

  • Work closely with the Workspace and Relobility Services Team(s) and ensure a seamless delivery of service to each customer.
  • Understand and observe Crown's published workflow practices relative to:
  • Process for Operations HHG Freight
  • Process for Operations Regional Workspace service provisions.
  • Operational supplier management systems
  • Financial and statistical reporting systems
  • Work with the finance team to safeguard processes ensuring month end accounts accuracy.

Supply Chain and People Management

  • Supply chain management
by way of service partners and Crown for long term working partnerships.

  • Chairmanship of monthly operations meeting, responsibility for ensuring one is held and that it provides a forum for discussion.
  • Identifying and implementing quality performance improvement opportunities and measures.
  • Develop staff engagement results to show motivated and engaged people.

Vehicles and materials

  • Management and control of all vehicles and equipment in accordance to 'O' Licence and FORS standards. CPC preferable but not essential.
  • Ensure recycling of materials and equipment.
  • Ensure additional costs eg demurrage, airport storage, detention, charges etc are managed.
  • Achievement of improvement in feedback & claims quality targets
  • Ensuring operations are able to match or exceed capacity to sales bookings.

Corporate Social Responsibility

  • Support the company CSR commitment and goals.

Other

  • Management and control of the warehouse activities
  • Ensure continuous improvement and Best Practice in all aspects of the warehouse operation.
  • Ensure a proactive thorough and complete store search is carried out upon the reporting of missing items.
  • Ensure the company complies with all regulatory body requirements.
  • Investigate all accidents.
  • Ensure that accurate records are maintained for both ISOs.
  • Ensure all internal audits are up to date.
  • Demonstrate and promote the company vision and values.

  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage your time and workload and dependably meet strict deadlines.
  • Ensure tasks are completed within timelines to a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Confident cando attitude and a willingness to support stakeholders in effectively doing their job.
  • Solution oriented approach to problem solving and decision making.

Professional Knowledge and Skills

  • Supply chain management
experience is essential.

  • Knowledge of the safety and legal procedures for handling and receiving goods
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with multiple and diverse stakeholders.
  • Welldeveloped administration and organisation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Applicable computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of the functionality of machinery and equipment
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness.

Qualifications

  • Over 5 years' experience in management within removals or logistics and/or warehousing industry.
  • APICS, SIM, or other recognised professional Supply Chain Management qualification.
