Technical Assistant
The Commercial Assistant will assist the Technical Director's work across our anaerobic digestion (AD) and Carbon capture facilities.

The role is integral to continued business growth and development of specialist green-energy anaerobic digestion technologies, in conjunction with Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generation, bio-methane production and carbon capture.

The work you do will be targeted towards optimum biogas production and have a direct impact on the business and our vision of providing carbon-neutral green energy.


This is an exciting, demanding and often challenging position occupying the confluence of the Commercial, Technical and Production aspects of the business.

The work will be varied and interesting but demand high levels of focus, accuracy and attention to detail.

To be successful, you must be methodical, consistent and confident managing relatively large amounts of data with a critical eye, to identify trends and anomalies with the ability to interpret results in a quantifiable manner.

The Commercial Assistant will work across various teams within the organisation to gather or distribute relevant information, as required. The reporting structure is relatively flat and the ability work independently is important. The role will develop through ownership of projects and tasks, as the business expands.


Roles & Responsibilities:


Reporting directly to the Technical Director, responsibilities include:

  • Ofgem & EA compliance, improvement and reporting
  • Monthly and Quarterly
  • Sustainability reporting and monitoring
  • Monthly and Quarterly
  • Timely and accurate completion of regulatory information to Ofgem, Department of Transport, Environmental Agency, Auditors, etc:
  • Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme
  • Feedin tariffs (FIT)
  • Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs),
  • Renewable Energy Guarantees Origin (REGOs) & Green Gas Certificates (GGC's)
  • The Green Gas Certification Scheme (GGCS)
  • Annual Sustainability Audit Report
  • Greenhouse gases (GHG) calculations
  • Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation (RTFO)
  • Monitor anaerobic digestion (AD) plant parameters such as pH (FOS/TAC Titration), %DS (Dry Solids), alkalinity ammonia, VFA (Volatile Fatty Acids) & biogas quality
  • Monitor quality of lab sampling of AD plant feedstock
  • Input laboratory result into business system to generate reports on AD plant performance and optimisation of biogas production
  • Monitor Quality and accuracy of data
  • Interpret raw data, trends, anomalies and outcomes
  • Understand process and their impact
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers
  • Ad Hoc projects and testing
  • Other tasks and duties required as the business develops and expands

Skills & Qualifications:


  • Graduate calibre Science focused academic background with strong understanding of Chemistry and Biology
  • 2+ years' experience of scientific testing and analysis, ideally within Agriculture, Pharma, Food industry or similar environment
  • Good working knowledge of a laboratory environment and best practice

  • You will have excellent communication and will be a natural collaborator with leadership potential, including managing contractors and third parties.
  • Confident, friendly and sociable, able to interact professionally with colleagues across the business from Plant Operatives to Directors
  • You will be detail orientated with robust timemanagement skills, critical thinking, and problemsolving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for accurate reporting
  • Motivated and proactive attitude with willingness to learn
  • Ambitious and capable of responsibility for tasks and small projects
  • Residing or relocating within 60minute commute of Ely, Cambridgeshire

Salary:
£25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
