Environmental Health Officer (Residential & Protection)


Rate:
£45-£50 Per hour Umbrella


Duration: 4 Month Contract

Are you passionate about safeguarding public health and contributing to the wellbeing of communities? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to join a dynamic team focused on regulatory services.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of residents and visitors to the County, as well as protecting the interests of legitimate businesses.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Conducting investigations and enforcing legislation to protect public health and safety.
  • Providing highquality support and advice to residents and businesses.
  • Collaborating with the food industry to ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
  • Investigating cases of food poisoning, disease outbreaks, and workplace accidents.
  • Regulating industrial processes to minimize environmental impact.
  • Monitoring air quality and managing Air Quality Management Areas.
  • Identifying and addressing contaminated land in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Responding to Planning and Licensing consultations to minimize environmental impact.
  • Collaborating with key statutory agencies and participating in partnerships.
  • Working on public health projects to promote healthier choices in the community.

Requirements:


  • Degree in Environmental Health (BSc or MSc).
  • Qualified Environmental Health Officer registered by the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB).
  • Investigative, analytical, and interpretative skills to comprehend and enforce legislation.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels and in various formats.
  • Ability to make fastpaced decisions based on evidence in a changing environment.
  • Proficiency in using complex instrumentation and IT skills for data analysis.
  • Understanding of the political context and ability to operate within a political environment.
  • Willingness to travel across the county and other locations.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Valid driving licence.
