As part of our 30-year remit to manage and improve the capital's orbital motorway network, we deliver major improvement projects, such widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries, helping to maximise the use of the network and deliver more reliable journeys.

We also manage the Dartford River crossing and operate and maintain 440 kilometres of motorway providing our customer and road user with a world-class highway service.

This is a newly created role to assist the Arboriculture and Landscape Team to run the soft estate.

It involves working with contractors and to organise soft estate and tree works and liaising with the Commercial team to sign off the work for payment and also interaction with other departments, such as the depots, to coordinate work in traffic management.

Simple mapping on a GIS system is required to record soft estate work.


Role responsibilities:


  • Scheduler is responsible for programming soft estate works
  • Ensuring that HAIL tree/veg work completed on time. Monitor tree work to ensure it's completed within timescales.
  • Ensure all road space is booked and used efficiently through coordination with other internal and external works.
  • Some resource planning to oversee tree survey/ soft estate survey progress and reporting to OPM. Organise and monitor site audit programme
  • Liaise with other Programmers and quadrant teams to improve utilisation of resources across the network and share innovative ideas to improve Service Delivery.
  • Collate and maintain records relating to defects and repairs for Soft estates ensuring subcontractor and inhouse SE teams sign off work, provide records to Commercial to ensure backup for payment is sufficient
  • To provide general administrative support within a working depot environment. minute taking for SE meetings with Framework Contractors

Skills & Experience:


  • Experience working in an office environment organising works, shifts or rotas.
  • Experience working in highways environment advantageous but not essential.
  • CSCS card (desirable)
  • Good organisational skills.
