About the role


As a
Design Estimator with CDS you will be using your design & estimating skills supporting our clients with their project requirements.

Working with M&E contractors and end users, you will be able to realise your creative potential and work on providing your customers with compliant and cost-effective solutions to win the works.

This is a flexible office based/hybrid working based role.

You'll report to our Regional Operations Director and work with a close-knit Team of fellow designers, sales and project managers.

This is a newly created role in a forward thinking, ambitious business so the opportunities to progress and develop are vast.


What you'll be doing
As a/an
Fire and security Design/ Estimator, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Undertake the role of design /Estimator on projects taking responsibility and leading the estimating function on assigned tenders
  • Assisting the sales team to lead the bid process to ensure that tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner
  • Oversee and/or interrogate design options and value solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles.
  • Review customers drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment
  • Review tender documents and submission requirements, ensuring all financial information is identified and provided and accurate compliant design proposals are included
  • Establish and agree key plant costs where required
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of preliminary and general expense pricing, including plant and QHSE requirements
  • Provide audit trails of cost allowances as part of the commercial handover meeting to the projects team
  • Responsibility for sign off all cost elements prior to any client meetings or financial submissions
  • Ensure that key specialists are utilised on each bid to optimise design, specification, programme and value
  • Manage the production of cost information and tender submissions for senior management
  • Provide considered responses to customer questions including post tender queries
  • Ensure that cost planning and estimating are accurate and reflect the project requirements and risk profile

Who we're looking for

You will have the following

  • Experience in the field of Fire life safety design and estimating role.
  • Experience in designing and estimating security projects would be beneficial
  • Strong industry product knowledge
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Thorough understanding of the estimating requirements / variables.

Employment Package

  • Salary
  • Circa £30k £35K (negotiable/dependent on industry experience)
  • Annual leave 25 days plus statutory bank holidays

Salary:
£30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
