JOB OVERVIEW (brief description of role)

  • To support the Furnace Supervisor in the running and checking of the furnaces
  • Able to work shifts and weekends when required
DUTIES (essential duties)

  • Start up and shut down Glassflake furnace
  • Monitor and adjust furnace control panel as and when required
  • Observe performance of Glassflake cyclone, vacuums and millers
  • Deal with any Glassflake production faults, i.e. blocked cyclone, loss of vacuum, etc.
  • Change miller screens and clean out vacuums
  • Monitor QA readings and ensure that these marry up with the set running levels for the type of glass flake required
  • Communicate & liaise with R & D engineers & Glassflake manager
  • Training of QA role and basic furnace operation duties to staff
  • Ensure production targets are reached & record average stats and totals produced
  • General fault finding and troubleshooting while Glassflake furnace is running
QUALIFICATIONS (education level, experience etc)

  • Numerate
  • Literate
  • Basic computer literacy, excel, internal software systems for data logging.
Basic understanding of electrical systems (desired not essential)

From £11.03 per hour
