Accounts Assistant
Bournemouth

My client, a leading law firm, are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join their friendly team.

To be considered for this role you will need to have experience working as an Accounts Assistant, ideally within a legal or professional services environmentalthough this is not essential.


Duties will include:

  • Processing and payment of invoices via system and purchase ledger, sending payments by bacs and producing/sending remittances weekly and monthly payment runs.
  • Forwarding Client receipts to Clients by bacs in bulk each week and producing remittances.
  • Production of auto bills running bills on system, manually producing bill front, producing and checking excel backup spreadsheet.
  • Dealing with suspense account and returning unallocated bacs payments that we are not able to allocate in line with SAR rules.
  • Monthly auditing of Client matter balances on closed matters and querying balances with fee earners sending balances out to Client.
  • Preparing monthly management information and spreadsheets for a certain Clients and sending to relevant Partner/Fee earner.
  • Reporting on unrecoverable expenditure for a Client and posting to nominal.
  • Saving PDF bank statements to the system each month.
  • Liaising with the bank, clients, agents, fee earners and finance team as needed.
  • Covering for team holiday/sickness:
Daily bank reconciliation, conflict searches, interest calculations, daily banking and printing cheques.

  • Periodic tasks for Personal Injury department including the production of manual bills and forwarding Client settlements for.

Skills and experience required:


  • GCSE of equivalent in English Language and Maths.
  • Accounts Assistant experience and strong numerical skills.
  • Good knowledge and experience of Excel
  • Previous experience in professional services / legal environment would be desirable.
  • Ability to relate to others/ team player.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Efficient with good organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload and reschedule as required.
  • Selfmotivated and flexible attitude to work and time, being conscientious with a commonsense approach to work.
  • Professional and credible, with the ability to act with tact and discretion and to maintain confidentiality are essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Polite, friendly and confident telephone manner.
  • Willingness to learn.
