Are you an experienced Information Security Architect looking for your next contract? If so this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

My client is a government funded business who specialise within research and innovation with a goal of ensuring the UKleads the world within this space.

The Cyber Security Architect will work across the business on the development of a cyber security framework.

It will help in the design and development of a holistic framework for the Chief Information Security Officer and Senior Security Advisor to reduceduplication and maximise opportunities to improve security posture across the cybersecurity domain.

It is an important role in the development of a Cyber Security Development Framework that needs to be able to liaise concurrently at the CxO and security specialistlevel while working closely with the current Principal Security Architect.


Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the security stakeholders to develop a group framework for understanding, challenging and remediating the diverse operational security and programme requirements of the business.
  • Ensure that the endtoend IT landscape is using best practices and Government Standards with a joinedup approach for cyber security in service design and existing services, preparing the organisation for Government Assure and Cyber Assessment Frameworkrequirements.
  • Provide management information to help secure funding for cyber security aspects of a project so that they can reduce their cybersecurity risks.
  • Facilitate the design and implementation of processes, tooling and ownership that will be able to effectively discover the ongoing management of IT assets and services, to articulate the security risk.
  • Identify where there are cybersecurity capability gaps in business areas and engage with senior management to prioritise the capability gaps across the organisation and identify strategies to fill those gaps.
  • Research and use the best practices across the business and industry when prioritising single risk picture and pragmatic risk reduction activities.
  • Provide performance reporting by means of effective Cyber Security Monitoring, Detection and Response that is in line with the Government Cyber Security Strategy for relevant boards and wider to enable senior management to take the right decisions on cybersecurity risks again, challenging as needed.

Skills and Experience required

  • Experience of being a security architect on several IT programmes with federated ownership of systems and live services.
  • Experience dealing with senior leadership who have local objectives for managing cybersecurity.
  • Experience assessing and prioritising cyber security risks for transformational programmes and live services where there is a difference of opinion.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, and interest in proactive research to identify cybersecurity risks.
  • Ability to clearly explain complex cyber security and technical issues and an understanding of how they are relevant specifically to the organisation's senior leadership.
  • Excellent leadership, engagement, and communication skills.
  • Experience of being able to work at pace and adapt to changes in a dynamic situation.
  • Current or previous security clearance to BPSS or SC (desirable)
