Role summary:


Key team member, responsible for all aspects within the tool room with special focus on cutter grinding to ensure all screw set cutters are registered, monitored and maintained sharp and to profile in order for Threadmill operation to be complete.

Inventory control of cutters, tooling and inserts / tips in conjunction with management and aligned to planning schedules and recording of cutter records.

Responsible for following all health and safety codes which involve machinery.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (But Not Limited to)

  • Ownership of Tool room and contents maintaining special cleanliness standards.
  • Grinding of cutters using special grinding machinery.
  • Operate all tool room machines.
  • Maintaining all cutters to relevant profile and requirements.
  • Inventory of cutters and records.
  • Inventory of tooling and inserts and propose requirements to Management.
  • Review and update setups and working methods / procedures including SOP's.
  • Quality assurance inspection of parts according to drawings and requirements
  • Maintain efficiency records of equipment
  • Perform safety and housekeeping tasks
  • Perform all machines set up duties
  • Maintain machines daily and perform preventative maintenance tasks where required.
  • Participate in any EHS activities including Risk assessments within manufacture.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities to drive improvements.
  • Training will be required to be involved in further training and to provide training to peers and apprentices.
  • Implement and improve the company's Quality system.
  • Will be required to work in other areas as and when required.
  • Cylindrical grind experience essential.

DESIRED SKILLS / KPI's

  • Ideally tool room experience.
  • Qualified in material removal in such areas as turning, grinding, milling.
  • Time served apprenticeship in manufacture, NC / HMC level or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing drawings and processes.
  • Strong numeracy/mathematical skills are essential.
  • Must be capable of operating manual machinery including jib cranes.
