Staff365 are looking to recruit a Catering Manager for their clients Café based in Hornsea which is located in a large hall with a very pleasant view overlooking the sea.

Role: Catering Manager(not required to prepare or cook food)

Salary: £25,000

Catering Manager Duties:

  • Be accountable to the directors for the profitable running of the café
  • Oversee the smooth running of the café and kitchen
  • Move the café forward in terms of when it is used and the kind of events that could be offered
  • Ensure all guidelines are followed and all statutory checks are carried out
  • Review clocking in data for accuracy
  • Prepare a monthly report about staff hours to go to accounts
  • Discuss "Specials" for the café and "Special Days" with the cooks
  • Keep kitchen diary uptodate
  • Compile agendas and lead meetings for cooks and supervisors and whole staff meetings
  • Circulate minutes from these meetings
  • Encourage team spirit
  • Deal with any issues
- staff or customers

  • Meet with individual staff regarding any concerns
  • Follow disciplinary action procedures and lead followup meetings
  • Meet with cooks re. catering for events and private hires
  • Review menu prices and update menus regularly
  • Compile/update buffet menus with the cooks with different price levels
  • Liaise with hirers re. bookings
  • Report repairs
  • Ensure stocktaking is carried out

Catering Manager Publicity duties:


  • Organise publicity for the café
  • Be aware of events
  • Organise any initiatives e.g. loyalty cards etc.

Catering Manager HR/Personnel duties:


  • Take absence calls and organise cover if needed (before 8.30 am)
  • Compile rotas two weeks in advance
  • Maintain staff personal files
  • Meet with a new staff member before the starting date and go through the Induction pack
  • Revise the Induction pack when needed
  • Organise staff initial and refresher training
  • Keep training file up to date
  • Keep own training up to date
  • Review staff vacancies with Line Manager(s)
  • Staffing levels to be reviewed with Line Manager(s)

Catering Manager Organisational Duties - mostly occasional tasks

  • Liaise with the public in the café
  • Answer telephone queries and follow up enquiries
  • Organise cards to sell in the café
  • Coordinate the exhibition wall in the café
  • Enter car registrations onto the parking site
  • Ordering admin. stock and popup shop items
  • Checking of First Aid boxes monthly
  • Maintaining staff badges
  • Upkeep monthly takings and weather data sheets
  • Keep alcohol stocks filled and order/buy when needed
  • Revise the menu with the cooks when needed
  • Put systems in place when required
