Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

One of the services we provide to families is a Home from Home Service.

Our Homes from Home are a free place for families to stay when their child is going through cancer treatment.

    About the role


We are currently recruiting for a Housekeeper to work 22 hours per week at our Home from Home in Oxford.

Are you dedicated, supportive and enjoy seeing how the little things make such a difference? Then this position is a great role for you.

Our homes need passionate and detailed people to help maintain a high level of housekeeping so that our families feel safe, comfortable and supported.


Duties include:

  • Carrying out cleaning to a high standard
  • Regular laundering of all linen
  • Assist with ordering of cleaning materials
  • Carrying out all tasks whilst adhering to all house policies and procedures.
  • Participating in eLearning, training, supervision and staff meetings.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of personal and sensitive data with which the post holder comes into contact with.
  • Basic Computer skills
Young Lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at interview stage with you.

This role is site based.


We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Previous experience of cleaning and hygiene requirements
  • Some knowledge of Health and Safety requirements in relation to use and storage of cleaning materials
  • Ability to deal promptly and courteously with colleagues and service users
  • Willingness to undertake training as required
  • A good approach to customer care and interpersonal skills
