Job overview:


Main duties of the job:


Helping to provide support in the assessment, planning and implementation of care for major trauma patients admitted to Salford Royal.

As part of the major trauma team, you will facilitate major trauma patient's progress from the emergency department to discharge, coordinating their plans, interventions, and care.

With supportive specialist knowledge and with an interest in major trauma you will provide support to patients their families and carers during and after discharge

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
Key to the role the successful applicant will need and have the opportunity to;
To work cohesively with the Major Trauma team providing support to the patients from admission to discharge

Manage own caseload of acute patients working closely with the MDT to ensure that all patients receive their care in a timely manner

To be a point of contact and act as a liaison with North West Air Ambulance & for patients and their families


To aid in the collation of patient experience/outcome data and produce reports as defined within the NWAA data sharing agreement.

To provide specialist advice & to effectively communicate with a wide range of people in a manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture and background to explore complex issues and to make complex decisions

Registration:


Essential criteria:


  • Current NMC registration first level nurse, or HPC registration for physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist

Essential Qualification:


Essential criteria:


  • First Degree in nursing/ physiotherapy/ occupational therapy or an equivalent portfolio of evidence

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


Essential criteria:


  • At least two years post registration experience within an acute major trauma specialty.
  • Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge relevant to major trauma
  • Effective communicator; able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information

Desirable criteria:


  • Demonstrates experience in managing patient pathways
  • Evidence of knowledge of the Greater Manchester Major Trauma Network
