Job Summary:


Reporting to the Associate Director QC, the QC Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned Laboratory Systems and Project delivery, including scheduling and compliance, at Charles River Laboratories Keele.


Responsibilities will include:

management of an analytical team to deliver QC services, ensuring that financial, operational efficiency, quality and compliance, and Health & Safety targets and standards are met, in accordance with the Code of Conduct as required by the Company.


Profile and Requirements:


  • Line management of a small dedicated team of QC Microbiologists covering a widerange of programmes of work, from initial customer contact, through to product release and stability studies, with the additional need to provide process development support.
  • Responsible for the coordination of cell bank testing, including method development and stability requirements.
  • Responsible for the evaluation of environmental monitoring data and to make judgements on the impact of the data and relevance to GMP activities and to communicate findings other departments.
  • Responsible for the on time management and delivery of all Microbiological aspects for a large number of GMP and PF work programs.
  • Supporting the Associate Director, Quality Control in proactively managing Quality Systems action closure within defined timelines, and in developing and implementing laboratory system improvements in compliance with MHRA requirements. Review and approval of a wide range of Quality documents.
  • Application of suitable riskbased Quality System techniques to resolve technical challenges to deliver product of the required quality.
  • Supporting the Associate Director, Quality Control in Regulatory and Client audit preparedness activities, management of audit responses and action closure.
  • Work in close cooperation with process development, customers and contract laboratories to optimise processes, help solve problems and control quality.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential requirements:

  • Successful track record in a proactive leadership role demonstrating an ability to champion Quality Systems action closure and systems improvement.
  • Experience in effective utilization of Quality Risk Management techniques.
  • Ability to manage, and deliver on, a wide range of programmes of work.
  • Previous management/supervisory experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication
  • A self starter, who shows initiative and is a team player
