Shifts: 30 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm with 1 hours unpaid lunch break

Purpose of role

The role of Hospitality Assistant will be providing the onsite coffee shop and hospitality service at a client site.

The role includes successful management of the onsite coffee shop, working closely with the Team Leader to boost coffee shop profits and share new ideas.

Provision of barista style beverages and food to order, event assistance, general corporate hospitality and assistance with reception and office services duties as needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide the coffee shop function within the client site taking orders and payment
  • Prepare barista style beverages and food to order, using knowledge of food hygiene and standards
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and hospitality skills by serving staff members
  • Maintain a clean and safe coffee shop area at all times
  • Clean and maintain coffee shop equipment, report issues as they arise
  • Clean up conference rooms after use and return property to vendors if necessary
  • Follow morning and evening set up procedures
  • Assist with event coordination
  • Work closely with the Team leader to provide a high quality coffee shop function, sharing ideas and innovations
  • Maintain inventory of catering supplies and order supplies as needed
  • Place orders for food and beverages
  • Assist in training new hires
  • Use equipment and supplies in a cost efficient manner
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Provide backup support to Reception and/or Office Services as needed
  • Set up conference rooms according to client's request, including audio/visual equipment, food, beverages, utensils, ice, etc as needed
Personal attributes

  • Minimum 1 year professional experience preferably in hospitality, coffee shop or restaurant industry
  • Experience of food preparation in a professional setting
  • Awareness and experience in food hygiene standards
  • Barista training and coffee shop experience is desirable
  • Able to make independent decisions that conform to business needs and policy
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills required
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and complete all projects in a timely manner
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • Professional attire and demeanour required
  • Good written communication skills
  • Good problem solving skills, with the ability and understanding of when to escalate a problem to a supervisory level
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high energy environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to operate basic audio/visual equipment

  • Ability to anticipate client's needs for meetings and events
  • Must be selfmotivated with positive can do attitude
