An exciting opportunity has arisen within United Lincolnshire Hospitals for experienced Advanced Critical Care Practitioners (ACCP's) to join our team.

There is also a development opportunity for NMC/ HCPC registered professionals to become trainee advanced critical care practitioners (ACCP's) within critical care.

We are seeking highly motivated, passionate and ambitious personnel to support the growth of our new innovative workforce within critical care.

Applicants are welcomed from those professional groups that are eligible to undertake non-medical prescribing under current statutory requirements. You will be a highly motivated team player that possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.


In this advanced training role, the post holder will learn to provide expert clinical management to patients requiring levels 1-3 care in critical care in a role traditionally performed by medical staff.


The post holder will work in a supernumary training capacity for 2 years practising under direct or indirect supervision of a consultant supervisor.

This will encompass training in the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment of the critically ill patient.


The post holder will be expected to register as a trainee ACCP with the Faculty of intensive care medicine (FICM) and undertake a programme of education to achieve a Masters level qualification in Advanced Critical Care Practice and independent prescribing.

This will all meet the FICM knowledge, skills, and competencies and when achieved meet full ACCP FICM membership when completed.

Louth Hospital is set on the edge of the Wolds and serves the communities of Louth and the local area.

It provides a number of services, including an outpatient department, diagnostic and surgical procedures, as well as a surgical ward.

ADVANCED CRITICAL CARE PRACTITIONER

  • Develops the skills to undertake comprehensive clinical assessment of a patient's condition
  • Requests and performs diagnostic tests
  • Develop the skills and confidence to initiate and manage clinical treatment plans
  • Provides accurate and effective clinical handovers
  • Undertakes invasive interventions under supervision within the scope of practice
  • Learns to provide professional leadership and support within a multiprofessional team
  • Critically analyses, evaluates and synthesises different sources of information for the purpose of developing skills in assessing and managing the care of the critically ill patient
  • Applies theory to practice through a clinical decisionmaking model
  • Understands the professional accountability and legal frameworks for advanced practice and fulfils the requirement of the FICM ACCP Curriculum
  • Applies the principles of evidencebased practice to the management of the critically ill patient
  • Understands and develops the ability to perform clinical audit.
  • Carries out inter hospital transfers under supervision within scope of practice
