- Band 5/6 Substance Misuse Nurse

£32,306 per annum (above national average)
Duties:
- Provide, and supervise the delivery of high standards of nursing care for the treatment and support of substance dependency to service users in accordance with uptodate evidence based professional practice, national guidelines and Forwards policies
- Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team who are responsible for the delivery and monitoring of high standards of all relevant substance misuse interventions to service users presenting for substance misuse treatment, including triage and assessmentof needs in conjunction with case managers
- Provide assessment, brief interventions, prescribed drug treatment, case management, crisis intervention, group work, 11 work, supervision and all aspects of required nursing care
- Facilitate access to primary care and mental health services, monitoring of the general physical and psychological health and wellbeing as required in the context of behaviour change leading to healthier lifestyle
Requirements of the Substance Misuse Nurse:
- Relevant nursing qualification and an active NMC Registration
- Recent nursing experience within Substance Misuse, Substance Abuse, Addiction, Drug and Alcohol, Needle Exchange, or Recovery
- Be competent in urine/saliva testing and interpreting the results and to report and record any unexpected results to the senior nurse on duty
- Be familiar with the requirements of the Department of Health Drug Misuse and Dependence UK Guidelines on Clinical Management and all other relevant policy and research updates as outlined in your supervision
- Sound clinical knowledge
- Time management and organisational skills
- Assessment skills, including an understanding of risk assessments
- Ability to work within a Recovery model
- Strong IT skills
