Description
The Norfolk Heritage Fleet Trust

Schools, Youth and Community Project Co-ordinator

This is an exciting opportunity to spearhead the growth of a new initiative at the Trust.

You'll be responsible for giving the experience of sailing on the Broads to over 600 young people each year, from year 5 through to late teens.

That experience may last a couple of hours, or a week. In particular, you'll target young people from disadvantaged communities and households in Norfolk.

As it grows, this project will help young people improve their self-confidence, learn through discovery, experience teamwork and develop their leadership skills.

You'll also help them learn about the Broads' environment and why it is so necessary to cherish and protect it.

You'll work with schools, youth and community groups to deliver the programme. You'll also secure on-going funding for the project beyond its initial two years.

You don't have to be a sailor (we have plenty of those) but you do need to be prepared to learn to sail.

The Trust has a long heritage of introducing young people to sailing on the Broads. Many other youth groups also use our facilities for their young people who come from all over the country.

You will be responsible for delivering the project, but you'll be well supported by the team at Hunter's Yard, the Trust's boatyard base.

Please have a look at the job description. If you have any questions, do contact our manager, Martin Whitaker, who will be pleased to chat with you.

We look forward to welcoming you to our team
