The Development team is responsible for generating annual income of £2m through membership and philanthropy, partnerships with businesses, and support from grant giving bodies.


Working within the Development (fundraising) team, you will play a key role in the stewardship of the Friends, Patrons, philanthropy and corporate partnerships programmes, ensuring that we're bringing supporters closer to our work.

With our new home in central Leeds now open following the £18m Music Works capital redevelopment, you will have the opportunity to play a key part in delivering supporter satisfaction and achieving strong donor retention rates.

You'll be joining a team thatworks collaboratively and strategically but always with a focus on the company's objectives, as well as playing an important part in driving income to support Opera North's work on stage and off.


Main Purpose of the Job


Opera North's Development team raises over 60% of its revenue income from individuals, through tiered membership schemes, major donor giving, regular gifts and one-off donations.

With a passion for people and an understanding of how to deliver excellent customer service, you will work closely with colleagues in the team and across the organisation to build strong relationships with supporters and deliver excellent stewardship tomaximise donor engagement.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Individual Giving Manager to provide highquality stewardship and customer service for members of Opera North's Friends and Patrons programmes, and for regular and major donors
  • Support the Director of Development to provide highquality stewardship to Opera North's corporate partners
  • Provide supporters with excellent customer service and a personal contact point for enquiries about their membership or sponsorship
  • Devise and create engaging content for regular communications to supporters, to maximise engagement and interaction with Opera North's work
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications teams to coordinate delivery of key company news and announcements to our members and corporate partners, and to ensure smooth facilitation of ticket offers and priority booking periods
  • Work closely with the Individual Giving Manager on the creation of targeted guest lists for events in Leeds and the touring regions
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of donor and sponsor engagement, in order to identify opportunities to upgrade levels of support and maximise the value of existing supporters
  • Utilise the CRM system (Spektrix) to accurately record donor communications and interactions
  • Play an active role in the busy Development events programme, including contributing to planning, supporting events delivery and participating in debriefs and followup activities
  • Contribute to producing analytical reports to inform budgets, targets and future strategy, and for Board and Development Committee reporting

  • Have an interest in the arts, and ideally an understanding of fundraising for the arts
  • Are hungry to learn on the job and build your fundraising skills and abilities
