JOB DESCRIPTION
Exchange Chambers are looking to recruit a Civil Clerk to join the team in Manchester.
With over 200 Barristers including 23 Silks and 60 members of staff, we are one of the largest and most well-resourced Chambers in the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a resourceful, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual who will work closely as part of a team and provide an excellent service to our members and professional clients.
MAIN DUTIES
- To gain an appreciation of the practice of each individual barrister in the Personal Injury team.
- To be responsible for managing all designated Barrister's diaries and workload daily.
- To build relationships with client firms.
- To allocate work efficiently and fairly.
- To notify instructing solicitors of any potential clashes on cases and manage accordingly.
- To deal with Counsel's billing.
- To negotiate fees with instructing solicitors and supply cost estimates on multitrack cases where necessary.
- Accurate inputting of agreed costs budgets onto the LEX diary system.
- To ensure a CFA is produced on all claimant multitrack cases.
- To ensure booking confirmations are sent to instructing solicitors on all hearings and conferences in accordance with Chambers' guidelines.
- To ensure conflict checks are conducted on each new case in accordance with Chambers policy.
- To ensure all instructions are accurately logged on to LEX system in accordance with Chambers' guidelines.
- Attend marketing events and assist in identifying target firms and helping arrange seminars/marketing events where necessary.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- An ability to work well under pressure.
- Able to prioritise workload and plan accordingly.

Salary:
£25,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
