CLINICAL RESEARCH FELLOW IN PLEURAL DISEASE

Applications are invited for the above post in Respiratory Medicine, based in the Pleural Diseases Unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH).

The post is available from August 2023.

The Glasgow Pleural Diseases Unit provides specialist pleural services including Thoracoscopy. Insertion and management of Indwelling Pleural Catheters and accepts referrals from across the West of Scotland (WoS).

The unit delivers a weekly specialist Pleural Disease clinic and functions as the hub of the Macmillan Scottish Mesothelioma Network and national MDT.

The unit is supported by three Pleural Consultants, Pleural and Mesothelioma Clinical Nurse Specialists and a team of clinical research fellows.

The unit has an active clinical research program with a particular interest in Mesothelioma, and plays an active role in delivering UK-wide clinical trials of pleural diagnostics and treatment.


In addition to clinical duties within the Pleural Diseases Unit at QEUH, the post-holder will be involved in providing specialist respiratory input to inpatients in the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.

They will have the opportunity to train in Pleural Disease and advanced pleural procedures, including Thoracoscopy and Indwelling Pleural Catheters.

To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a license to practice.
