We are looking for a highly motivated Head of Technical and Development to join this fast-growing food business, based in Hampshire, and play a key part in the company's ongoing progression.


Reporting to the Marketing Director, you will be responsible for the development of products and packaging from concept - through kitchen recipes and production trials with third party manufacturers - to launch.

The Head of Technical and Development will assume responsibility for all Food Safety, Quality, Technical and Legal issues.

They will ensure customer requirements are met in full and ensure the correct systems are in place to deliver continuous improvementwhilst maintaining third party certification.


Brief Overview of Role / Responsibilities:


  • NPD & EPD
  • Own the innovation Process

Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all relevant external accreditations and audit standards are achieved and continuously maintained; Regularly review product and pack quality with all manufacturing partners (including overseas manufacturers)

Customer / Consumer / External Relationships
  • Be the first point of contact with external bodies; Undertake Complaint Investigations; Be the Technical / Quality lead with customers.

Supplier Management
  • Regular travel to manufacturers, copackers and retailers (both in the UK and abroad).

The Individual:


  • Educated to degree level in food science
    or qualified by equivalent relevant experience.
  • Ideal further qualifications include a minimum of Level 3 HACCP, Food Safety, Food Hygiene, Internal Auditing etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety requirements, standards and legislation including BRC global standards.
  • Experience of managing successful projects from concept to launch.
  • Passionate about food.
