Protocol are delighted to be recruiting for a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead on behalf of an Educational establishment in the Oldham area
To safeguard and protect the young people and staff through the delivery of safeguarding training, updates and policies and procedures.
36:40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm, 40-minute break
Salary:
£31,084 - £34,282pa alongside a generous annual leave package
Ideally you will have an Enhanced DBS on the update service.
The person and qualifications
- Recent Professional Development: Designated Safeguarding Training, Level 3 Safeguarding
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a safeguarding role within a school or other organization working with young people and their families
- Understanding of Legal Statutory Guidance and knowledge of key Government documentation (i.e. Keeping Children Safe in Education.)
- Strategies and interventions to improve pupil engagement, attendance and behaviour
Duties
- Refer all cases of suspected abuse to an appropriate agency, social care and police in cases where a crime may have been committed.
- Act as a source of support, advice and expertise to staff on matters of safeguarding and when deciding whether to make a referral by liaising with relevant agencies
- Encourage a culture of listening to children and young people taking into account their wishes and feelings so that measures may be put in place to protect them
- Being alert to the signs and symptoms of abuse
- Meeting with parents where appropriate/necessary to express concerns where a full referral is not considered necessary at that point
