Laboratory Support Operative

Antibody Analytics is an innovative and vibrant biotechnology company.

Our mission is to provide our drug development partners with data of outstanding quality which gives them confidence to expedite new healthcare solutions to market.

We are seeking to recruit a Laboratory Support Operative to join us at Antibody Analytics.

This role will report to the Facilities Manager and is based at our site at BioCity Scotland, Newhouse.


ROLE PURPOSE


The purpose of the Laboratory Support Operative role is to aid in several areas of Operations which assist in the delivery high quality data to our customers.

This purpose is delivered by supporting the Operations department by ensuring our equipment, materials and samples adhere to the company's quality management system.

Through reliable and dependable performance of these duties, these activities are the foundation of the scientific operations of the organisation and therefore requires the need to communicate effectively with all members of the Operations and Quality Departments to ensure the smooth running of laboratory practices and customer projects.


ROLE DESCRIPTION


This role establishes a range of fundamental processes which when combined provide all the necessary materials, and equipment for a customer study to a high-quality standard.

It requires not only performance of the support activities, but also the demonstration of a basic level of understanding of why these processes are required, and not just following controlled documentation.

A level of understanding is required for some or all of the following processes:
Material Management, Facilities Management, and Sample Management.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Support

= Provide support to scientists to ensure effective organisation of all aspects of a research laboratory, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

= Responsible for receipt, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment.

= Support validation of equipment and key systems

= Receive and book in routine and custom materials, following company procedures.

= Receive customer samples, perform review for accuracy and completeness, followed by booking into LIMS.

= Communicate with suppliers to place orders, arrange contracts, and maintain good stock levels and pricing.

= Ensure correct handling and disposal of biological waste.

= Contribute to the creation and update to current and new SOPs.

= Where necessary, prepare routine reagents for assays and cell culture.

Compliance

= Ensuring adherence to Good Documentation Practices resulting in completed documents, which require mínimal revision upon review.

= Contribute and where necessary lead simple process improvements utilising the deviation, change control and CAPA processes.

Training

= Capability to aid in the training of colleagues in procedures where competence has been demonstrated and achieved.

Communication

= Interpersonal skills and teamwork.

= Effective in the management of their time and schedule to actively manage workload.

= Demonstration excellent communication skills to share solutions to foreseen issues.

Health and Safety

= Ensuring compliance of correct handling and disposal of materials and biological waste.

= Following of health and safety policies to minimise risk in the workplace including preparation of COSHH and risk assessments.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

= 5 x A - C National 5 or equivalent (incl. maths and a science)

= Working within a document driven environment

= Desirable if you have experience of working in a CRO environment

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

= Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

= Exceptional attention to detail to identify and risk assess potential issues.

= Excellent communication skills and teamwork to communicate effectively with Study Managers, Study Scientists and Scientific Support in the participation in projects and training efforts.
