Trainee Tax Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To work as a full-time trainee tax assistant in a busy accountant's office. With training under the direction of senior staff and home study, working towards an Association of Taxation Technicians qualification. Further opportunities will be available to qualify as a Chartered Tax Adviser.


A description of the role:

  • Preparing personal tax computations and returns;
  • Possible progression into corporation tax computations and returns;
  • Liaising with HMRC on various tax matters;
  • Speaking to clients regarding their tax affairs;
  • Utilising accountancy packages such as Iris;
  • Participate in training and performance development as required;
  • Preparing payroll using Sage Payroll;
  • Have strong mathematical skills and a logical mind;
  • Friendly, reliable and honest;
  • A positive and proactive mindset;
  • The ability to work under pressure and able to manage their time effectively;
  • To be able to work as part of a team;
  • The drive to work hard to achieve your goals.
  • Be competent in using MS office products and computers;
  • An understanding of confidentiality;
  • Show excellent communication, organisation and presentation skills;
Full training will be given to develop the skills required and to work within a team.

37.5 hours per week.

Salary - market rates depending on experience.
